Our Purpose – we make packaging for good – is driven by our Core Values – Inclusion, Trust, Teamwork and Excellence – and underpinned by the three pillars of our sustainability strategy – Emissions, Ecology and Social.
In 2022, Ardagh Metal Packaging (AMP) and Ardagh Glass Packaging (AGP) received approval from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for near-term emissions reductions targets. You can learn more about our strategy, targets and projects throughout these pages.
As a signatory to the UN Global Compact (UNGC), our sustainability strategy is linked to specific Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Our strategy takes a comprehensive approach aimed at embedding environmental, social, and economic considerations into our operations and decision-making processes. In 2024, we published our Sustainability Roadmap which depicts our progress and path forward.
For Emission & Ecology, we have two targets: minimizing our GHG emissions and minimizing our ecological impact. This goal targets four United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Affordable and Clean Energy, Responsible Consumption and Production, Partnerships for the Goals, and Climate Action.
For Social, we have two targets: Our people and our communities. This goal targets three UN SDGs: Good Health and Well-being, Quality Education, and Gender Equality.
*Further information on these items is set out in our Sustainability Roadmap
AMP and AGP have committed to ambitious targets for emissions, waste, and water withdrawal reduction. The emissions reduction targets for AMP and AGP and their respective value chains have been approved by the SBTi. This is in line with the Paris Climate Agreement of 2015, under which governments pledged to hold the increase in the global average temperature to well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels and pursue efforts to limit the temperature increase to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. Further information can be found in our Sustainability Roadmap.

| Water withdrawal intensity3 | 20% reduction | |
| Zero waste to landfill by 20252 | 100% | |
1 The Research Institute of Sweden (RISE) provided limited assurance of the acquisition, processing and aggregation of the quantitative data necessary to calculate the principal 2023 environmental and health & safety KPIs reported.
2 Zero Waste to Landfill for operational waste streams, where allowed by regulation.
3 Intensity metrics shown include can body production facilities only (excluding Huron, Ohio – since this facility produces both cans and ends), as water and VOC emissions from ends production is insignificant.
