Pip & Nut go green with move to glass

The nut butter specialist worked with Ardagh Glass Packaging (AGP) to launch its new glass jars with over 50% recycled content.

Pip & Nut have transitioned their whole range of nut butters from plastic to embossed glass jars, following consistent feedback from the company’s active consumer community.

Founder, Pip Murray, explains why they made the change:

“As a B-Corp*, we’re always striving to improve on how we can make our products better for the planet. With the move to glass jars, we’ve improved the recyclability of our products as glass is more widely recycled in the UK than plastic.”

The jars are made from a minimum of 50% recycled glass and have a fully recyclable label and lid. Working with Pip & Nut, and design agency B&B, the Ardagh team has developed a bespoke, embossed jar, making them desirable for reuse.

“This has been an incredible two-year creative journey. The result is a sustainable jar with a distinctive design which we are all proud of”, commented Jolanda Raas, Sales Account Manager from AGP-Benelux.

The move supports Pip & Nut’s commitment to sustainability and ongoing ‘nut butter done better’ mission.

Pip Murray adds:

“We always listen closely to what our fans want, and they clearly asked us to move to glass, so we are delighted that day is finally here. As a brand we have promised our community that we’ll always deliver on Better Nuts, Better Taste, Better Business and this packaging relaunch underlines our commitment to this third pillar and to our overall goal of making nut butter better.”

Following the move into glass, the brand is now furthering their B-Corp promise of ‘better business’ by working on their commitment to setting science-based targets in 2021 to reduce their carbon emissions and align to net zero by 2030.

The Pip & Nut peanut butter is available in 300g jars and the almond butter in 170g jars.
