Senior Management Changes

Ardagh Group announces that John Riordan, who has been Finance Director of the Group since 1999, has been appointed President of Ardagh Glass North America. Ardagh is currently negotiating a settlement with the US Federal Trade Commission (“FTC”) of the antitrust complaint on the basis of proposals made by Ardagh on 11 December 2013. These proposals involve Ardagh divesting six former Anchor Glass plants together with the former Anchor headquarters and infrastructure at Tampa, Florida. The settlement negotiations with the FTC are progressing satisfactorily. However, it has not proven possible to conclude these settlement negotiations in time for Ardagh to complete the acquisition of Verallia North America (“VNA”) by 13 January 2014.

Paint cans awarded 'Widely Recycled' Status

Metal paint cans have been awarded the prestigious ‘Widely Recycled at Local Council Recycling Centres’ label in the latest annual OPRL (On-Pack Recycling Label) guidelines published this month. Ardagh Group has been recognised by a leading energy saving advisor for its energy saving achievements at its UK glass operation. The company received a highly commended award in the Carbon Trust’s Energy Efficiency in Manufacturing Awards 2012. 

The award was earned for concerted efforts made to save energy at its plant at Irvine in Ayrshire. A systematic energy saving programme has resulted in an annual reduction of approximately 2,405tCO₂ emissions, with annual savings for the company of over £165,000.

Luxembourg based Ardagh Group today announced that it has acquired US based Leone Industries from the Leone family. The acquisition of Leone Industries will increase the size of Ardagh’s glass division by approximately 10%.

Leone Industries was founded in 1966 and is a technologically advanced manufacturer of glass containers serving the US food and beverage markets. It produces more than 500 million containers per annum from its state of the art facility in Bridgeton, New Jersey.

Ardagh Group today announced that it has agreed to acquire Finanziaria di Partecipazioni Industriali S.p.A., (‘Fi.Par’), subject to certain conditions. Fi Par is a group engaged in the production of metal packaging for the food and aerosol markets in Italy and Greece. Fi.Par trades under the names of In Cam, National Can Italiana, Eurobox, European Aerosol Can, and National Can Hellas. The Fi.Par Group had sales revenues of approximately 150m euro in 2010 and employs 440 people in its four manufacturing locations in Italy and one in Greece. The acquisition has been approved by the Italian competition authority and is likely to complete in early April.

Grand opening of Metal facility in New York State

In November 2010 Ardagh held the grand opening of its brand new Conklin facility, located in New York State only 14 months after announcing “ground breaking”.

Ardagh claimed three of the top prizes at the annual UK Packaging Awards presented at a glittering ceremony in London.
