Enzesfeld-Lindabrunn’s recycling success
One of Ardagh Group’s long-term sustainability goals is to have at least one Community Involvement Project per facility by 2025. With this in mind, last summer our metal beverage facility in Enzesfeld-Lindabrunn, Austria, together with local authorities and the town’s primary school organised an educational sustainability programme to promote metal packaging and recycling.
During the event, Ardagh Group employees, local primary school children and residents were invited to collect as many aluminium cans as possible, to contribute towards local and European recycling targets.
Ardagh Group’s Quality Manager in Enzesfeld-Lindabrunn, Burkhard Steurer, visited the children in school sharing his knowledge about metal and recycling. He later hosted the children on an official Enzesfeld-Lindabrunn facility tour.243kg of aluminium cans was collected and recycled during the event which helped to reach recycling targets set by the European Commission as part of their Circular Economy plan.
The European Commission’s Circular Economy plan aims to create an economy which “closes the loop” of material lifecycles through greater recycling and re-use, benefiting both the environment and the economy.
