Clever combination secures Alufoil Trophy win for Ardagh
Ardagh Group has gained a much coveted 2016 Alufoil Trophy in the Consumer Convenience category for the development of a unique metal microwaveable fondue bowl for Emmi, one of Europe’s most innovative premium dairy producers.
The ready-to-eat cheese “All In One Fondü” with an easy-peel aluminium foil lid has proved very popular following its acclaimed launch in 2015. It earned particular praise from the competition’s head judge, Unilever’s Global Packaging Sustainability Director, Louis Lindenberg, who explained: “This concept is a clever combination of a number of packaging elements to create a highly original product.”
He added: “Fondues can be time consuming due to the complexity of setting them up. But here we have a product, where all the packaging works together to make the concept work and where the alufoil lid is a core element. ”
The alufoil lid uses Amcor’s AluFix® Retort Pro membrane, which Ardagh has integrated into its Easy Peel® convenient lid system to provide additional consumer convenience and shelf life.
