Ardagh Group was one of most successful entrants at this year’s prestigious Cans of the Year Awards winning two Gold and two Silver trophies.
The global packaging company won Gold in the beverage three-piece category for its Maxi Can 3.1 litre keg produced for German beer brand Radeberger. Launched earlier this year, this innovation enables the keg to be kept in the fridge, with easy access to allow the beer to be easily chilled and tapped . A further Gold in the food two-piece category was gained for Pear Shaped deep drawn aluminium meat can with OptiLift® easy open metal can end for Zwanenberg Food Group in The Netherlands. A 70% weight reduction and a 60% saving in transport costs made this innovation a Gold award winner.
Ardagh also won Silver trophies for its SealLite® 80mm gas-proof membrane lid attached to a necked tinplate three-piece can, and the rectangular drawn aluminium luncheon meat can with OptiLift® end for Zwanenberg Food Group.
The awards were presented during the annual Canmaker Summit, held this year in Istanbul on September 29-30, which drew together decision makers, leaders and experts from the global metal packaging community to explore business ideas and technology.
David Wall, Managing Director of Ardagh’s Metal Packaging business, who addressed the Summit conference, said: “We are delighted to have won these awards as recognition of our continuing commitment to innovation, and our focus on delivering new ideas and solutions that satisfy customer and consumer needs."
