Ardagh Group 1 has become a significant winner in two prestigious international awards for its innovative metal packaging. Its winning products were singled out for meeting specific customer requirements through technical excellence, with an emphasis on innovation, sustainability and cost effectiveness.

The company scooped the Technical Innovation category in Alufoil 2011 for its Deep Drawn End (DDE) development. Alan Moffat, packaging development manager at H. J. Heinz R&D, who chaired the panel of Alufoil judges, commented: “The technical concept of the end seal and the many ways in which it can be used offer numerous alternative markets for this interesting development.”
Ardagh also gained top place in the product
preservation category for its SealLite® closure, earning another
citation from Alan Moffat: “This technically clever solution works
effectively and also creates significant material and weight savings.”
Four of Ardagh Group’s recent metal packaging solutions were honoured in the 2011 iF Packaging Awards: PowerClick®, OptiLift®, the Embossed Aerosol Can and the 5L Spray System.
These
products earned top marks for their practical and innovative features, particularly
for “ being able to successfully assert themselves in a highly competitive,
international environment,” according to the panel of eminent judges.
“Winning
these prestigious 2011 awards is an excellent reflection on the calibre of
R&D, technical development and manufacturing within the Group, and it
promotes the value of teamwork and close customer cooperation,” says Woep
Mőller, Group Commercial Director of Ardagh Group,
All
these products will be shown on the Ardagh Group Stand (A52/B53-Hall 11) at Interpack
2011.
Alufoil is run by the The European Aluminium Foil
Association (EAFA) and is open to products which are either made from alufoil
or contain alufoil as part of a laminate or structure. The iF Packaging Awards
stand for economically and ecologically sustainable packaging design, and the
awards are evaluated by an expert international jury.
